Core hours: Mon to Fri 9.30am-6pm, but must be flexible to cover times of global markets

Compensation: £40,000-45,000 plus bonus of up to 10%

Based: United Kingdom. Per Hybrid Working Policy (2 days per week office based [Putney Bridge)

Note: Remote working would also be considered 

Business travel: Some travel will be required, attending conferences and supporting ESI Events globally

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

As ESI continues to grow, your role driving our digital marketing activities across verticals will be vital to the continuing success, development and expansion of the business. 

Reporting to the Managing Director, you will take the lead on forming and implementing our digital marketing strategy and activities across our growing portfolio of events, media products and services. It will be your task to ensure we stay up to date with the latest technologies, platforms and best practices across our digital marketing output.

This will include overseeing our digital marketing channels and output related to events and media products - including social media channels, email, the website, video marketing and PPC campaigns across Google and Social Media.

This will also include measuring and reporting on ROI and KPIs to the Managing Director and wider senior team. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

General 

  • Develop and implement marketing strategy, using both research and metrics to contribute to the formation of a marketing plan to execute across ESI brands and services, with a prioritised focus on events. This will include the production and execution of digital marketing campaigns and analysis of these with a view to optimising strategy

  • Oversee all the company's social media accounts in regards to event and media product promotions and campaigns

    • This, currently, includes Linkedin (ESI and ESI Events), Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram 

  • Manage ESI newsletters

    • This, currently, includes the ESI Dispatch (twice weekly), The Dotted Line (twice monthly), and Angels & Unicorns, In Play and Heat Map (all being once monthly)

    • Take the lead on the strategy, delivery (including scheduling and updates) and implementation of these, working closely with the Media/Content team

  • Lead on our paid social media and Google AdWords/Display Ad campaigns, including driving their reporting, refinement and effectiveness

  • Collaborate with the design team to ensure that graphics, video and website pages used in marketing are both accurate and creative in support of the marketing objectives

    • Develop creative and innovative ideas to discuss with design team

    • Ensure that detailed, well structured briefs and tasks are delivered in a timely manner, and tasks are kept up to date with regular updates and clear communication 

    • Oversee the process of checking deliverables for quality and accuracy

  • Responsible for managing the Social Media & Marketing Executive/Assistant as well as help facilitate their growth, learning and ability to contribute to the marketing output and tasks

  • Drive research, identification and implementation of emerging technologies to support and improve marketing activities, with a focus on AI tools and platforms 

  • Take ownership of and drive development and improvement of event website pages - both in terms of functionality and content aimed at specific audience segments and ensure value is provided for other relevant stakeholder teams

  • Provide suggestions and ideas for improving online content and to expand and build on inbound marketing leads generation - researching and providing examples and inspiration from competitors and other industries

Events 

Our events are a core part of the business, and our main shows are in London (our flagship), as well as Singapore and the US, whilst more are in development. They focus on the business of esports, video games and the creator economy. The promotion and success of ESI Events will form a significant part of this role’s responsibilities.

  • Ideate and write promotional and creative content for a wide variety of channels for the marketing of ESI Events (mailers, socials, PRs, banners etc.)

  • Ensure that for each ESI event there is a detailed, considered, data driven marketing plan in place for its promotion across channels and verticals

    • You will lead on and implement this with support from the wider team (especially Design, Events and Media), and a Marketing Executive / Assistant, and you’ll receive direction from the MD and Senior Team around which events are to be prioritised  

    • Longer term, you’ll fully evaluate ESI event marketing processes too, consider and suggest where improvements can be made 

  • Become the internal lead on Hubspot Marketing for targeted event promotions, manage and maintain lists for targeted direct email campaigns, and continue to consider ways in which our targeted outreach can improve

  • Lead on Mailchimp and scheduling mailers as a part of broader event marketing plans  

  • Ensure the event marketing strategy covers post event activities to maximise opportunities and further client engagement

  • Take the lead on working with ESI’s Strategic and Media Partners to ensure both parties deliver on any and all agreed upon inclusions, and ensure optimisation and delivery effectiveness from any activities 

    • You’ll also be involved in researching, assessing and suggesting new suitable media and strategic partners for ESI’s events going forwards  

  • Event attendee targets and ticketing

    • You’ll receive targets for total attendees per event, with a breakdown of paid vs guests, and this target will form a part of Marketing’s KPIs annually 

    • Working closely with the Sales Team on direct outreach for ticket sales and guest invitations 

  • Collecting and reporting useful stats and KPI’s for event attendees. Collect, evaluate and make recommendations based on data from marketing activities  (performance for website, email, social etc.)

ABOUT YOU

You must have:

  • Provable experience in a marketing focused role for a minimum of three years 

  • Excellent written and spoken English

  • Excellent technical/computer skills and ability to learn and work with various software

  • Great copywriting and proofreading skills, with creativity and attention to detail

  • Ability to work calmly under pressure and meet targets and deadlines

  • Ability to work closely with colleagues and team members and maintain a good level of consistent communication 

  • Ability to work in a structured way, prioritising a wide range of tasks, ideally with knowledge of project management platforms such as Monday, Jira and Asana

It would be nice if you had:

  • Knowledge of, and an interest in, the esports and wider video games landscape with an understanding of the core and associated markets

  • Experience with basic CMS systems (WordPress) 

  • Experience with marketing execution across verticals (email, website, social media) 

  • Excellent knowledge of and experience with spreadsheet software (Excel, Google Sheets etc.)

  • Experience with Google Drive & Google Docs

  • Experience with mailing systems (Mailchimp)

  • Excellent knowledge of, and provable experience with, programs including Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Sketch and similar
